There are two ways to add a custom ingredient.
- On the Custom Ingredient Page
- While adding or editing a recipe
Method 1: On the Custom Ingredient Page
1. On the Custom Ingredient Page, click "Add Custom Ingredient"
2. Name the ingredient and enter the nutrition information from the product label or from the supplier. Including the serving size, energy (calories), fat, carbs, sugar, etc.)
3. If the product serving size is in mL or fluid oz, there is an additional step required. Select ml or fl. oz from the dropdown. Then, search the density database to find an ingredient with a similar density to your ingredient.
4. Optional: Enter the ingredients list of the custom ingredient. This will be helpful if you are creating a nutrition fact label that uses the custom ingredient. This way the ingredients list of the custom ingredient will be imported to the label.
5. Optional: Add additional units of measurements for the custom ingredient. For example, if you know that 1/2 cup weighs 100 grams, then you can add it as a custom measurement. This measurement will be available when you use the ingredient in a recipe.
6. Click "Save" when finished
Method 2: While adding or editing a recipe
1. Click on "Search Ingredient"
2. Click on "Add Custom Ingredient"
3. Repeat steps above.
